State Representative Pauline Wendzel is planning a town hall for this month as an effort mounts to undo part of a state law change made last year that reduces local control over some zoning decisions.

Wendzel says Democrats passed a re-write of the state’s energy laws that gives zoning authority on large wind and solar energy projects to the Michigan Public Service Commission. She’ll hold a town hall April 15 to not only discuss the issue, but also collect petition signatures to undo the change.

Wendzel is joining Citizens for Local Choice to pursue the ballot initiative.

The town hall will be from 6 to 7 p.m. on the 15th at the Van Buren County Conference Center in Lawrence.
