Saturday was National Lung Cancer Screening Day.

Doctors say if you’ve smoked and are over 50, you may want to consider getting your lungs screened. Dr. Timothy Mullett is with the Commission on Cancer and told us more.

“Smoking is associated with a number of health risks, whether it’s heart disease or lung disease or vascular disease,” Mullet said. “So, we can reduce the risk of heart attack or stroke or lung problems by quitting smoking. Regarding cancer, lung cancer and several other cancers are certainly associated with being caused by cigarette exposure.”

Mullett says there are many smoking cessation programs.
