Grants to help residents improve the energy efficiency of their homes are going to Cass County and the city of Dowagiac from the Michigan State Housing Development Authority. It’s announced $5.5 million in Michigan Housing Opportunities Promoting Energy Efficiency program, or MI-HOPE, grants statewide.
$500,000 is going to the Cass County Land Bank Authority, while $300,000 is going to the city of Dowagiac. They’ll work with local agencies to connect residents with funds to improve their HVAC systems, roofs, and windows.
The Housing Opportunities Promoting Energy Efficiency program is funded by the American Rescue Plan, or ARPA.
