New to the city of Bridgman this summer is the Bridgman Beach Bus at Weko Beach. It’s partnership of the city, local businesses, and the Greater Bridgman Area Council for Growth and Advancement to offer a free shuttle between town and Weko Beach on Saturdays and Sundays. It launched this weekend. The CGA’s Tara Heiser tells us those who can’t find parking at the beach can park in town and get a free ride to their destination.

“We had a roundtable discussion meeting with about 30 or 40 businesses a couple of months ago, and one of the things that came out of that conversation was a free bus service to the beach,” Heiser said.

Recommended lots are city hall, the library, and Toth Park. Bridgman City Manager Juan Ganum says the city thinks this is a great idea.

“It’s no secret that we have major congestion at Weko Beach on an annual basis during the summer months, and in particular, on the weekends when the weather is great,” Ganum said. “So, we’ve heard from a number of folks, both residents and visitors, who say when they arrive at the beach, there’s no parking available.”

Ganum says the city won’t lose out on revenue because if the Weko Beach lot is full, then that’s all the revenue they were going to get. The Bridgman Beach Bus at Weko Beach launches this weekend. Stops will include Sunset Dunes Vacation Rentals, Biggby Coffee, the Bridgman Public Library, and the Get-A-Way Grill and Cubbie Bar.
