The Michigan State University Board of Trustees has authorized plans for a new Detroit research facility in partnership with Henry Ford Health in Detroit. MSU Health Sciences Vice President Norm Beauchamp says told trustees about the plan.

“The building that we propose today will enable us to partner in bringing a world class academic health system to the great city of Detroit,” Beauchamp said. “It will house 100 scientists that will focus on cancer, women’s health, and health disparities.”

Beauchamp says the facility is part of a $2.5 billion campus re-design. The board also authorized construction of a $38 million dollar multicultural center on the MSU campus.
