1963 The Rolling Stones make their TV debut on the BBC program Thank Your Lucky Stars.

1969 The Who released their rock opera ‘Tommy’ album, one of two full-scale rock operas from the Who (the other being the 1973 ‘Quadrophenia’). The double album tells the story about a “deaf, dumb and blind boy” who becomes the leader of a messianic movement as The Pinball Wizard. Tommy was the first musical work to be billed as a rock opera.
