The village of Three Oaks is gearing up for its annual Flag Day parade this summer. To help raise funds, the festival will host its traditional Three Oaks Flag Day Hog Roast fundraiser.

Festival President Heather Whitlow emphasizes that this event is more than just a meal; it marks the beginning of a celebration of community spirit.

“The unique thing about it that it’s been 73 years, that’s a long time to be running,” Whitlow says.  “All of the local veterans that we have in there, all of that community members that come together, and the number of units that we have. We’re always well over a hundred units in this marvelous parade.”

On Saturday, April 26, the village invites family, friends, and community members to come together, enjoy delicious food, and prepare for the Flag Day weekend festivities.

“We have a silent auction, we have a meal of pork, we have mac and cheese, baked beans, coleslaw, and a dessert,” Whitlow says. “We come out and just have a good time. We will announce our grand marshal that day. And also just time to meet and greet anybody that wants to learn about the parade, get involved.”

Tickets are $25 at the door, and they include a meal. The event will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. at the American Legion Post 204, located at 204 W. Linden Street.
