Police looking for distracted drivers this month

Don’t be tempted to check your phone behind the wheel. It’s against law, and you could get a fine, community service, or even points on your driving record.

This is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month, and Michigan State Police Public Information Officer Mike Shaw says they’re getting extra patrol cars out to watch for it.

We’re also going to be doing some enhanced enforcement, and that means that through a federal grant funding that we will be sending extra patrols out there just to look for those that are driving distracted,” Shaw said.
