
The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department has recovered the body of an Illinois man who drowned in the Paw Paw River Thursday.
The department says central dispatch got a call shortly before 1 p.m. about a man who had gone under the water of the river in the village of Lawrence.
The sheriff’s department’s dive team began a search and found the body of the 48-year-old man after about an hour of searching. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation was turned over to the Lawrence Police Department.
The man’s name has not been released.
