Lake Michigan College and the Southwest Michigan Regional Chamber are teaming up for a boot camp. That is, they’re offering a Professional and Soft Skills Bootcamp next month.

LMC Vice President of Enrollment, Marketing, and Government Relations Al Pscholka tells us the college and the chamber frequently hear from businesses that employees are lacking in certain areas.

It is probably one of the biggest issues we hear about from employers, about soft skills and how it’s a significant challenge in the workplace,” Pscholka said. “So we’re talking about things like time management, communications, positive interaction with coworkers, strategies for handling conflict. These are all things that people need to brush up on and they’re skills that can really supercharge your career.”

Pscholka says the September 23 session will be an accelerated version of LMC’s business professionalism class that can better prepare workers for new positions or career changes.

Those who attend the boot camp will receive a copy of the book, The Hard Truth About Soft Skills, as well as a catered lunch. The session will be all day on the 23rd at the Todd Center at Lake Michigan College, and the cost to attend is $225 for non-chamber members.
