The Krasl Art Fair on the Bluff is set for July 13 and 14 this year.

Krasl Art Center Director Tami Fauver tells us the event will be a chance for anyone to stop by Lake Bluff Park and check out the work of a wide array of artists from all over the country.

We’re going to have 172 artists from across the country sharing their artwork with the community,” Fauver said. “We have on our grounds a bunch of community-centric events. So, we have an emerging artist tent, we have a faculty tent, we have some of our local organizations sharing their work and projects.”

The art fair will not charge for admission this year. During COVID, Krasl started charging for admission, but that has since ended. The St. Joseph City Commission told Krasl this year it couldn’t charge for admission due to the event being held in a public park. Fauver says that’s no problem.

I think it’s a matter of semantics. The Krasl Art Fair has always been an event that supports the work of Krasl Arts Center year-round. This year, simply rather than having an admission, we will have a suggested donation. So, we do certainly ask that people attending the fair consider donating, and we’ll have lots of ways for them to do that.”

The starting suggested donation will be $5.

Fauver says those who enter will still be given a wrist band, and the area will be fenced off so organizers can keep track of attendance. Speaking of which, nearly 23,000 people attended the fair last year.

Fauver notes tickets are on sale now for the Friday Night Block Party on July 12. That kicks off the fun with a celebration taking place from 5 to 9 p.m.
