South Haven Police Chief Natalie Thompson has announced her retirement.
Thompson says her retirement date will be February 25 of next year, ending a 32-year career in law enforcement. She says she’s stepping down to spend more time with family and friends, and expressed gratitude to the community for all of her opportunities and experiences with the South Haven Police Department.
Thompson has set her final day for next year so the city has time to find a new chief. The city plans to work with the Michigan Municipal League’s executive search team to find a new chief. More details about the search will be announced in the coming months.
City leadership expressed its appreciation to Chief Thompson for her decades of service and leadership to the community.
