The Paw Paw River Water Trail is receiving added support from the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund.
State Representative Pauline Wendzel announced this week the fund board has recommended a $284,000 grant be approved for the trail. It would be used for a public site along the trail to provide access to the river for canoeing, kayaking, and fishing while reducing erosion and improving accessible parking.
Wendzel says the “Paw Paw River is a gem in southwest Michigan with exceptional paddling, fishing and wildlife viewing experiences,” and she’s excited to announce it will be more accessible to all.
The 68-mile trail runs through Berrien and Van Buren counties.
The Natural Resources Trust Fund Board recommendation now goes on to the governor for final approval.
