As part of the Upton Drive reconstruction project, there will be a water shutoff in part of St. Joseph Tuesday.

The St. Joseph Department of Public Works says it will be in the area near Upton Drive from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Affected customers include Whirlpool Corporation and Anderson Builders.

In the coming week, Kalin Construction and its subcontractors plan to start water main and storm sewer installation. They’ll begin the directional bore under the St. Joseph River.

As part of the work, Upton Drive is closed from Whitwam Drive to just north of the CSX Railroad Tracks. Access will be maintained for homes and businesses.

Work that’s underway or that has been completed so far includes the removal of pavement, preparations for the new storm sewer, preparations to dewater the water lines, and preparations for the directional bore.

The Upton Drive work will continue through November.
