Officials in Muskegon are praising the Great Lakes cruising industry that’s brought nearly $700,000 dollars to the region in the past year.
Bob Lukens is the community development director with Visit Muskegon and says Great Lakes Cruises make a difference.
“Down at our Heritage Landing Dock in downtown Muskegon, the ships dock there,” Lukens said. “They will have motor coaches and trolleys that will come in and bring them to various destinations and attractions in downtown Muskegon, and sometimes they will go on to other destinations in west Michigan.”
Lukens says 2,500 passengers and crew have come through Muskegon. He says many visit the area museums, beaches, and restaurants.
