The Niles History Center is planning its annual Evening Open House at the Fort St. Joseph Museum and the Chapin Mansion for this month.

Director Christina Arseneau tells us those who attend will have the opportunity to see the Fort St. Joseph Museum and Chapin Mansion all dressed up for the holidays and decorated by community groups and businesses with the theme of “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.”

“There are several opportunities to see the decorations during the day, but this is really the only time to see the inside with all of the lights on,” Arseneau said. “It really makes for a special experience to see al of the different decorations and the lights on in the evening. It’s almost magical.”

Arseneau says the theme is different each year, and the volunteers had a wonderful time selecting all sorts of Rudolph-related decorations.

The open house will be free, and everyone is welcome. It’ll be December 16 from 4 to 7 p.m. They’ll have a scavenger hunt for the kids, and live music will be performed.

Arseneau says they typically get a couple hundred people at the event.
