Tomorrow is an Election Day

Tuesday is an election day, and there are a few local issues being decided.

In Benton Harbor, the position of mayor is up for a vote with Mayor Marcus Muhammad challenged by Gwen Swanigan. There are also two commissioner at large positions open in Benton Harbor with four candidates seeking them.

In St. Joseph, there are six candidates running for three seats on the city commission. St. Joseph will also have a new mayor once the new commission is seated and appoints one.

Watervliet Public Schools is seeking a $29.9 million facilities improvement bond, Weesaw Township is seeking a fire department millage, and Benton Harbor is asking voters to renew the general operating millage.

In Van Buren County, Anne Brown and Joseph Reeser are both seeking to be the next mayor of South Haven, while there are contested races for three city council seats in South Haven. There are also contested races for city commission in Gobles and Hartford, as well as a mayoral election in Hartford.

Decatur Public Schools is seeking an $8.3 million bond, Gobles Public Schools is seeking a $27.7 million bond, Hartford Public Schools is seeking a $22.6 million bond, and Lawrence Public Schools is seeking $2.1 million bond.

In Cass County, Election Day is quiet with only the Decatur school bond on some ballots and some uncontested local races.
