What are parents concerned about as kids will be heading back to the classroom in the next few weeks? The number one concern, according to a poll by the University of Michigan’s C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital is the overuse of devices and screen time and social media. Poll director Dr. Susan Woolford says worries about children’s mental health comes next.

“Number four on the list is depression and suicide, and number six on the list was stress and anxiety,” Woolford said. “So, parents seem to be particularly concerned about mental health issues for their children.”

Woolford says parents should work with their child’s pediatrician to address concerns. Other concerns on the list are: unhealthy diet, the cost of healthcare, school violence and smoking and vaping.
