Now running for Michigan House in the 38th District is Republican George Lucas.

Lucas is a Chikaming Township realtor who also ran in the Republican primary for state House in the last election. He lost out to Kevin Whiteford, who in turn lost the general election to state Representative Joey Andrews.

Lucas says his campaign will focus on “creating economic diversity, protecting Lake Michigan and agricultural land, improving the school system, providing high-speed internet access for the entire community, and increasing the supply of workforce housing.” He adds he wants another shot at running because “our current leadership is just not representative of our community values.”

Among those to endorse him are former state Senator Tonya Schuitmaker, Berrien County Sheriff Paul Bailey, Berrien County Drain Commissioner Christopher Quattrin, and several township trustees from around Harbor Country.
