State Senator Kim LaSata is calling on colleges and universities to end COVID-19 mandates. She introduced a resolution approved in the Senate this week opposing them in all public colleges and universities. LaSata says, “For yet another school year, we’re seeing several of Michigan’s public institutions continue to push these policies, which is unfortunate when students have been struggling for two years to get the education they deserve.” Her resolution states colleges and universities should be encouraging students to seek training and degrees, not discouraging them. She adds the state has a vaccination rate of more than 60%. LaSata’s resolution will now be sent to the chief executive officer of the Michigan Association of State Universities, the president of Michigan Independent Colleges and Universities, and the president of the Michigan Community College Association.
