The Disability Network of Southwest Michigan will continue its Winter Movie and Discussion series next month with a screening of a documentary called Far From the Tree. The network’s Miranda Grunwell tells WSJM News the film, based on a book, is all about families in which the parents and children have major differences.
“This film doesn’t just focus on disabilities,” Grunwell said. “It does focus on a few other families, about how love is love, and families are families.”
Grunwell says the film will be screened at the Disability Network’s St. Joseph office on February 27, and then there will be a discussion led by her. She says plenty of people could benefit.
“A person with a disability because even you being a person with a disability in your family, the dynamics around disability can be different. And parents, grandparents, even professionals.”
Grunwell says those who want to attend should call the Disability Network of Southwest Michigan to RSVP. The network’s Winter Movie and Discussion series will continue in March with a screening of the comedic drama, The Peanut Butter Falcon.
